The first inkset to take a look at is the UT-R2, described here:
http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/R220_R2_Readme.pdf It is essentially a
monotone approach that gives one control of tones by installing different
combinations of warm (carbon) and neutral/cool inks.
Additionally, I have the UT-3D running on my 220.
See http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/UT-3D_Readme.pdf This inkset will allow
one to use the ColorVision Print Fix Pro software & spectro to profile
papers. Then a very useful range of tones can be achieved by altering the
color balance in Photoshop, with the changes visible ("soft-proofed") on the
monitor when the ICC is used in a custom proof setup (View>Proof
setup>Custom) or in image is converted to that profile (Edit>convert to). I
also have ICCs made with the QTR Create-ICC approach posted for a number of
papers and tones.
From what I can tell, the QC issues at MIS have been taken care of. They
are now adjusting their LK inputs to a known standard, which solved the
problems we were having with this inkset.
