I was unaware of the new split tone set and when I read about it (just before your post coincidentally), I understood that you could use the same K7 curves in QTR that are used for K7? Can anyone tell me if I'm understanding correctly? I also read that you do not have to purge before replacing the K7 carts with the Epson color carts--is this true? If so, I may try these in my 2200 until my 3800 is delivered. There are, of course, no K7 sets nor QTR curves for the 3800 yet, so to satisfy my own interest, I may just, after all, try them in the 2200 since I already own a license for and use QTR. Jon mentioned on his list that the split tone set is now outselling the neutral set. Possibly because its new, possibly because it is unique, I don't know. In the split tone set the result is a very subtle blending that is going on and not what one would traditionally consider "splitting" hues since it doesn't exhibit strong hue seperations between highlight and shadow zones. You might want to order samples of each of these before making a final decision. The advantages are ultra-smooth tonal transitions, good totally consistent metamerism free print color, 0 clogging, good dmax, and carbon composition. The disadvantage is they don't have an inkset that is appropriate for the newer glossy fiber papers. That is not available yet and I don't know if it will be or not.
