Re: r1800 and print driver for black only?

2006-04-20 by Steven Karafyllakis

Hi;

You can't do BO with the Epson driver AFAIK, but some of us have
been using QTR with the R1800 with good results. BO with the Epson
inks is warm-toned, but with Eboni its fairly neutral. I've been
using MIS' K4 inks with it, with Eboni and Photo Black in the normal
slots, LK in the gloss optimizer slot, and LLK in the red slot.
adjusting the tone to neutral works with the blue and cyan, and
going sepia works with the magenta and yellow. It takes a bit more
effort to figure out how to do the curves, but you can do a pretty
fair job without a densitometer.Too bad there aren't more 'canned'
curves for that printer, it got bypassed in the stampede to the
2400. A shame, because having both glossy papers and matte available
with out switching is very convenient.
