There's an article in the current issue of "Photo Techniques" magazine
comparing the Canon Mark II (or whatever the 16 mp Canon camera is called, I
can't keep up with all the different letters and numbers of digital cameras)
using an L lens with a Leica R9 (Leica's SLR) using a digital back of about
9 mps as I recall and of course a Leica lens. The conclusion was that the
Leica was better despite the lower mp count. But best of all according to
the author was using an adapter and putting the Leica lens on the Canon
camera. I mention this not to prove anything about Leica or Canon but just
as an example of a test that did take lenses into account.
