Are you saying that the EZ warm inks, assuming cotton paper, are as archival as ebony black used alone? I only use Epson matt for proofs. My cotton paper currently is Hahnemühle German Etching. Yes, I agree using four carts makes for smoother transitions but at A4 maximum size on the c86 I'm not so sure BO suffers that much, of course because I now have the EZ inks I'll continue to experiment.
