Re: [Digital BW] FAQ? Photoshop conversion; R2400 settings

2006-01-18 by Peter Palmieri

Wren--I have been useing The Imaging Factory as it gives me greater control from applying the whole range of filters to paper grade simulation and is very easy to use. No doubt the same can be achieved useing PS, but with many more steps and a longer workflow.

Subject: [Digital BW] FAQ? Photoshop conversion; R2400 settings

Does the group have a FAQ to help out those just
starting out trying to print B&W from color digital.

First question is converting with Photoshop ...
I found a couple of recommended techniques: the
Russel Brown (Adobe) Technique, and an Action
developed by Rob Carr. Both seem worth trying.
Are there others the group recommends?

Does one then just flatten the image and leave it
  in sRGB color space?

What about settings to use when printing on an R2400?
Should one check "Advanced B&W" even if one just leaves
  it set to "neutral"?

  TIA, Wren
