Digital BW, The Print

My 2 year experience is good, like Barbara's. First 1280 lasted 2 yrs
then developed clogging problems. I replaced it and this one has
lasted 2 years with no problems. Very economical. But this one has
developed a paper feed problem. So now I'm deciding if to tear it down
and see if I can fix it or buy a 2400. Decision is compounded by
having a great supply of 1280 ink and carts. 

I think the key is to know if you are really committed to digital
printing. If not, a 1280 is a good way to give it a try. They won't
hold back your print quality and you're not out much if you decide a
few years down the road to go in another direction. If you decide you
have a long term future in digital printing you may decide on a more
robust model. 

If you are one of those who attribute your lower quality prints to
your equipment rather than your own lack of personal skills, then get
a newer model so you don't feel inadequate. Epson and their marketing
channels have you in their crosshairs.
