Cleavis,

one option to also consider is DVD-R (the so called "general" flavor ). You can 
put 4.7 G on a disc the size of a CD. Of course you pay cutting edge prices, 
but it may be very efficient for large amounts of data as images tend to 
generate. The same drive will also do DVD-RW for your work-in-progress.
