Digital BW, The Print

Well it is "official" but a private source.

During a black change, the printer only drains the black ink in question, but then when the 
new cartridge is put in, it recharges all 4 inks on that side.  It is a trade off: put individual 
pumps etc in for each ink line so that each ink can be treated individually and jack the 
selling price while reducing reliability (more parts) or sacrifice 4 ink charges when 
changing.  Considering it is 4 inks, I am surprised that only ~94 ml is used.

Each of us would probably make a different choice if we were building the machine I would 
guess.
