No. The "silver grain" of traditional B&W films and the "dye clouds" of color films just are different things. No. Dye clouds, "noise", can be a bigger problem. The "right" type and amount of grain makes a good B&W image. Film? Any. Fuji NPZ, 800 ASA, is my favorite, but the main thing is to expose for the shadows.
