Inkjet is an entirely new media, and has its own look, and its own strengths and weaknesses. In that respect, it's no different, no better, than platinum, albumen, silver gelatin, salt, cyanotype, or any of the other alternative ways to make a print. Silver gelatin prints excel at the air-dried-glossy-fiber-print-high-Dmax look. Inkjet prints excel at the smooth-linear-even-tonality-matte-paper look. If you want the darkroom look, head for the darkroom. -- Bruce Watson
