Simulating Orthochromatic B/W Film?

2004-12-15 by Jerry in Houston

I was reading Ansel Adams book "Examples; The Making
of 40 Photographs." In his description of the photo
"Saint Francis Church" in Rancho de Taos, NM, taken in
about 1929 he describes his working with
orthochromatic film at that time. He says that,
unlike panchromatic film, orthochromatic is sensitive
only to blue and green light. I was wondering if the
results of shooting orthochromatic film can be
simulated in PS using something like Channel Mixer,
i.e. delete the red, and adjust the blue and green to
get a nice B/W image. Anyone have any thoughts on
this or is it even worth it? Just curious.
