I think with even the best of photos a small percentage will love them,
another small percentage will hate them and the vast majority will think
"that's nice" and move on without caring much either way. The best
photos may have a slightly higher percentage of people who like them,
but the basic ratio stay very much the same I think.

I see that in myself as well. I see lots of photpgraphy that I recognize
as good photography, but which doesn't do much for me personally. It's a
rare occurrence when I find photography that really speaks to me, but
very enjoyable when I do. This was one such occurrence though, I found
myself marvelling at how good these pictures were. They all seem to have
that little extra that separates great pictures from merely good ones.
