Epson's own 1280 cartridges for the 1280 don't self seal, do they? Anyway, check out the MIS web site. Here's what they say about self sealing (in their their FAQ's nicely illustrated description of the Epson poppet-valve cartridge): "None of the clone cartridges on the market have these poppet valves. We don't think they have figured out how to insert the spring and the poppet valve while the cartridge is being injection molded. It is a good manufacturing trick. We do not know how they do it either." Phil Phil
