The firmware may be different..

But I'd bet they use the same engine..

Didn't you notice how quickly EPSON pulled the 2450 from the lineup 
after it became apparent it was under priced in comparison to its 
Expression series..  I do know I heard some pros bitch about 
unjustifiably having paid so much more for an Expression
