Ed,

I started out using the same curves on a 1280 (Mac), VM inks, 
CIS and bumped into the same things you're describing. 

I switched to Tyler Boley's curves (available somewhere here in 
the files section, I believe. All of my curve issues disappeared 
and I'm very happy with the VM ink and HM photo rag 
combination.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
