Digital BW, The Print

600 dpi will give you 600 pixels across the page, which for an 8 by 10 will 
be less than a hunderd dpi, and certainly not up to anybody's standards. From 
4x5 the ratios will be much better, but despite the alleged d-max you may 
still have trouble with the range of chromes, and if you can't get highbit 
out of the scanner you may also have trouble with negs. One of the Epson 
scanners would be a better compromise for affordable scanning.
