Lot's of food for thought then, Tom. I'll see if other things like running Epson inks for awhile clears the problem during my testing. In a way I'd wish it was something like PS7 messed up- because I can always work around it by printing through ver 6. But gooped up printheads for example, I don't want to think about. The difference in the files when converted from gamma 2.2 to sRGB using PS 6 VS PS 7 still bothers me. I know it is a slight change in mean, median, etc- but it still indicates the file has changed. Have you tried examining a print that is very low key, lots of 3/4 tones with both PS6 and PS7? On this one print I have the change is very dramatic, you can see it with one eye shut. On more normal tonal prints it is far far more subtle to detect. Thanks for the input. This is very puzzling right now. The best thing I can do right now is continue running Epson inks for another day or so to "clear" printer, then try printing with both PS versions. Then take it from there. If you're right, it may be harder to isolate problem.
