Jerry, I measure density of the black ink on paper in the 100% patch of a 21-step test strip, using an X-Rite "Color Digital Swatchbook." It's a spectrophotometer, also known as a densitometer. OK, so here is my new champ for blacks: MIS dye black, 1160, Epson Photo Paper, Epson driver, 100% K patch visual density = 2.30. (The Piezo driver results in 2.17.) I'll be mixing a dye-based "FS" inkset soon. It might be interesting.
