HOWEVER, many USB2 pci cards have 3 or 4 USB2 ports already...  Plugging 
the scanner into one port and the legacy USB hubs into the others would 
work fine..

If you only have two ports on the card, you can still pug the 2450 into 
one and daisy-chain the legacy hubs on the other port...

The legacy USB ports on your motherboard (if any) should still be 
available as well

You may want to look at combo FireWire/USB2 pci caards as well.. The 
Adaptec one comes with 4 usb2 ports and 3 firewire 1394 ports.. and is 
only a few bucks more than some USB 2 only cards..
