HI,
I had leak problems with my Epson 1400 and MIS inks. I replace the printer and also the cartridges but problem continued. Then it dawn on me that I must be doing something wrong while filling the cartridges. Though it is important how to refill cartriges there is not enough emphasis on adhering to the process and one (someone like myself) tend to cut corners. With some trial and error I have managed to stop the leaks. So here is the process I use. It is important to follow the process.
1. Leave the rubber bung on the air-vent in and fill ink through the refill hole.2. Fill slowly to the top until there is only some space left. Try to avoid making bubble but there will be some anyway.3. Leave the cartridge upright for a while and tap it to ensure there no bubbles trapped in the ink.4. Put the refill hole rubber bung back in its place. Make sure this rubber bung fits tightly so that it does not let any air in.5. Push a syringe with a plastic adaptor (one which is for sucking out ink from the cartridge) into the cartridge hole which will sit on the tray and suck out a few drops of the ink. I is important that the refill hole and air-vent have the rubber bungs in them when you do this. This will create a small pressure in the cartridge.7. Cartridge preparation is ready. Now push the cartridge in its position on the tray.8. Now and only now remove the air-vent bung.
I have found the above to work well.Hope it helps.
Bharat

Hi Jeff: I have used the Cone Carbon in the 1430 using the Cone carts without any issues at all. I have also used the MIS Carbon inks in the Ink Jet carts without issues. The 1430 is a great printer for matte prints and judging from comments on various threads carts from both sources have worked well in the past. Although unlikely, is it at all possible that you made some inadvertent mistakes when using and filling the carts, i.e., air bubbles in the carts, vent plug removed, etc., etc. Perhaps it is reasonable to consider having new carts sent from the USA? Is the cost prohibitive? I hope that you get up and running…. Elliot From: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com [mailto:DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com]

Subject: RE: [Digital BW] Re: 3880 and Eboni-6 Apologies for butting into this thread but I'm fascinated to hear how to get a 1430 to work. I recently bought a new Australian model1430. I used two Australian sourced sets, one rechipped Inkjet mall set and a HK set. None of them worked. I had air leaks, and ink leaking from carts. In the end, I abandoned the exercise concluding that Cone inks and a new 1430 just weren't meant to be. Have I missed something? This was a new 1430 which worked perfectly with Espon carts. #yiv6131377503 #yiv6131377503 -- #yiv6131377503ygrp-mkp {border:1px solid #d8d8d8;font-family:Arial;margin:10px 0;padding:0
