Re: [Digital BW] Toner for Eboni-6 -- Eboni variable tone inkset

2015-02-02 by Paul Roark

I have posted a color circle that shows the placement of the color pigment components of the toner. (The colors of the dots are accurate, based on draw-downs on non-brightened inkjet paper.)

The narrow 40 degree hue angle compared to the typical CMY hue angles is part of what I'm after. This very significantly affects the efficiency of the colors and risk of tone changes due to differential fade. By my calculations, it will be virtually impossible for this toner to result is a "greenish" B&W print. The Canon Blue would have to fade at more than twice the rate of the Epson Cyan. That's not going to happen. The Canon blue patch in http://www.aardenburg-imaging.com/ tests on HPR has a delta-e of only 1.9 at 140 Mlux-hrs of exposure.

The PDF (early draft) regarding this "Eboni Variable Tone" variation on Eboni-6 is at http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Eboni-Variable-Tone.pdf . I'll be working on this approach as time allows and will load the toner into my 7800 for a real world wide format test.
