I have been using Cone pigments (K3) in a 1400 for more than two years. They work all the time every time and I am very pleased with this inkset. The "canned" profiles that are supplied with the inks are right on!!!. I had some "custom" profiles made and just by way of seeing how close the Cone profiles were I printed an image using both profiles on the same paper and was amazed at how much better the Cone profile was. The color fidelity was plainly better, shadow color detail was better, instead of the shadows sinking into a dark monochrome they were alive with the colors I was seeing on my monitor. I have used MIS pigments and for my money there is no comparison, the Cone Color inks are an order of magnitude better in all respects. It is important to get the carts that Cone sells for the 1400 they work great, I had used some other carts and they caused me nothing but trouble to the point that I was considering abandoning the 1400 but I switched to the Cone carts and they hit the ground running and I have not looked back since! A note about auto re-setting carts. When I run low on an individual ink in this printer I refill all of the carts and use a chip re-setter (also sold by Cone) to reset all of the chips at the same time. In this way there is just *one* cleaning cycle (using expensive inks to clean the print head) when I am finished refilling the carts. Hope this helps Cheers *************************************** On 10/26/2013 2:20 PM, benedictchen22@... wrote: > > Hi guys I'm expanding to include color into my work. planing on a > second 1400 for cone pigment set is it any good is it any different > from the other options in the market? > > -- Default-WH William Harvey Mas de Cazes Parisot 82160 France 05-63-24-19-36 +33 5 63-24-19-36 Lat. = 44 degrees, 15.1 minutes North Long. = 1 degrees, 50.6 minutes East
