I tested a bunch of papers recently with the goal of finding the "best" matte art paper. There are so many more available than what I had. I really like the Epson Hot Press (natural and bright), the price is decent compared to some others like Museo, and these are now my go-to papers. http://jeffgoldner.zenfolio.com/blog I used the profiles that came with the printer (3880) and the settings in the driver, printing from LR4.4 and now LR5. I also tried printing with QTR and ABW mode on the Epson driver. All produced very good results. I have not been disappointed with any print so far. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "remononaz1" <homershannon@...> wrote: > > Are there any rules or guidelines for choosing paper based on the tonality of an image or its contrast level? > > The reason I ask is that I have an image that looks good on the screen. It is relatively low contrast and I thought it might look good on a matte paper. I printed a small test print and it looks like mud. I'm sure I can work with both the image and the paper and find a combination that works, but I'd be interested in knowing if there rule for paper selection that could be used as a starting point. >
