Re: 1400 cartridge recommendations

2012-09-02 by David

Thanks for the various comments. On reflection, I think that the leaks that I have had with the InkJetCarts damper cartridges have generally been just after refilling them, and I suspect that I overfilled them. It seems that things are OK as long as the ink level is about 1/4" below the top. Of course, the level eventually goes down with the leaks and remaking enough prints!

With respect to clogs/bubbles, I may have more problems with this than some because I live in a dry climate, Utah. The other thing that I have discovered, and may have influenced my earlier experience with MIS cartridges, is that it is much better to turn off the printer between uses than to leave it on. At some point early on, I got the impression that it was better to leave Epsons on overnight and longer, but this seems not to be the case with the 1400, and probably others.

For the moment, I will probably stick with the InkJetCarts, and try not to overfill them. One "feature" of these is that they have to be filled while in the printer. I had some trepidation about this, but it seems to be OK. Another nice thing about them is that they have little hinged lids on the fill ports, rather than the little plugs that I always lose.
