Not transmitting aftertouch over MIDI?

Not transmitting aftertouch over MIDI?

2012-01-12 by Natalia Rakowski

Hi everyone -

I recently picked up a DW-8000 on the cheap.  Everything seems to be functioning except that I can't get it to transmit aftertouch over MIDI.  If I set up aftertouch on a patch, I can hear it working.  However, it doesn't send the aftertouch data over MIDI.  I've looked over the manual and can't find anything I need to enable to get it to transmit over MIDI, but it should.  Correct?

Any ideas on what could be going wrong?  The previous owner said he had opened the synth up to clean up the key contacts.  Is there something he could have disconnected or broken when doing this?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Yes, it should transmit the channel aftertouch data over MIDI.

Okay.  Can anyone point me to what should I look for when I open the synth up to fix the issue?

Thanks!

See if the receiving device has it's 'controller' event data set to 'enable'.

Since it works audibly in a patch, can you watch the MIDI activity LED on the unit the DW-800 is trying to control and see if there's activity on the LED as you press the after-touch?

I actually found the problem.  I didn't have parameter 85 set correctly so it was only transmitting note data.

Thanks!
