You might want to verify that it does, indeed work with a DW; I've had problems with EX specific software not working with my DW in the past.  How much is this product?  Actually, you know what?  I'll verify that it works for you if you give me an iPad and a copy of the software.  ;)

Hello group,

I thought you'd be interested knowing Apple has just released our dedicated iPad editor for the DW-8000 / EX-8000, namely iDW-8000.

Those gears are great sounding but hard to program with only one knob, no display and non logically sonically organized parameters.

iDW-8000 is the solution, it offers:

4-Controls per Parameter

Each parameter "block" has its own:

• Slider: full range parameter value adjustment for a `coarse' workflow

• + button: precise +1 parameter value adjustment for a `fine' workflow

• - button: precise -1 parameter value adjustment for a `fine' workflow

• Parameter default value button: pressing the parameter value label / button sets this parameter to a default value for a faster workflow (ex: DCO wave = Saw; VCF frequency = wide open; etc...)

Parameter Name and Value

Each parameter "block" has its own:

• Name (ex: Wave): as written on the User Manual

• Value (ex: Saw): as written on the User Manual, dynamically changes when you use one of the 4 controls (slider, + button, - button, parameter default value button)

Logically sonically organized parameters

• DCO modulations on the DCO page

• VCF modulations on the VCF page

• VCA modulations on the VCA page

And lastly iDW-8000 is qualified with an EX-8000 and guaranteed bug-free.

You can see it in action in the video below:

The Kiwitechnics Patch Editor will work with the EX8000, DW8000 and DW6000 as well as a growing list of others.

The DW8000 doesn't support the MIDI Data Transfer parameter 78, which
the EX8000 does.

Re: iPad editor for DW-8000 / EX-8000

2012-01-11 by Daniel

The Kiwitechnics Patch Editor has a ridiculous price tag of $450 (or so). I accomplished the same thing with my APC40 and Bome's MIDI translator (total cost was $225). Even the Kenton Control Freak is ultra-rare and does the same task for quite a bit less money (if you can find one).

How much does this iDW8000 software cost? Is it cheaper than a hardware solution?

Maybe if you included the currencies you are talking about in your statement it might be a little more balanced.

That's a fair price.  I hope your user base is large enough to pay off your investment.  I'd most certainly recommend it to other people, but probably not before showing them how to use Bome's Midi translator.  If I had the iHardware to implement that purchase, I'd be all over it.

Hello,

I have the iDW-8000 app for my iPad (running it on the original iPad). It works nicely! You need Line 6 Midi Mobilizer II or iRig Midi (both are iDevice midi interfaces - I use the iRig). The same company also has a MIDI program changer app, which works with Roland, Korg, Yamaha, Oberheim, etc (0-127, 1-128, etc). I believe they have something like 42 apps for various synths.
