DW8K Volume slider replacement?

DW8K Volume slider replacement?

2011-05-01 by forcedopinion

Does anyone know where I can get a volume slider replacement for the dw-8000? Do I need the exact slider or is there a more generic one Korg makes that'll work in a few different synths? Thank you.

I see they got slider knobs here: http://www.syntaur.com/korg.html

So you should contact them and ask if they sell the whole slider...

Good luck!

PS.: Please get back here to let us know where you find it if you any seller...

Hello,

From the service manual you can see that the volume slider is a plain 10 stereo slider pot.
You can find these in any electronic part supplier for around 2$ or less.
Check this link for example: http://www.bourns.com/data/global/pdfs/PTA.pdf

I don't know if the pot is linear or log (sometime called "audio").
Check the writting directly on the pot on the DW:
- 10K : it is probably linear
- 10KA: it is surely log

You can also unsolder it and measure the resistance when the wiper is in the middle position:
- about 5K : it is linear
- quite different than 5K : it is log

In case of doubt i would take a Log model. They are gerenally used for volume.

You will also have to measure the wiper travel in mm and the overall height of the slider to make sure the replacement can fit between the board and the cover ;)

If you don't find a pot that has the same pin implementation the only solution it use a very flat model attached by two screws to the cover then run wires from it to the pannel board...

Part suppliers:
- mouser (cheap but shipping is costly for single parts)
- conrad (costly but shipping can be free on some occasion)
- electronique-diffusion (in France)
