Korg DW8000, Mono/Poly, MS-20...

The delay of my EX8000 doesn´t work . None of the parameters make nothing. I tried to "reset" the EX8000 (pressing "5" and "6" while switching it on) but it displays VR EF (veryfy FX???), and I can´t reset it. Did anyone have the same problem? Could be a technical problem?

I've never seen the insides of a EX8000, but I suspect that the digital delay is a separate board mounted inside the box, connected to the main board by jumpers. It might be worth checking those jumper headers to make sure everything is properly connected. -pc

As far as remember, has the EX8000 two Delay Boards, located at the bottom, located
under the VCO/Effect/CPU-Mainboard.

I haven't had this problem with my EX-8000. If you want to reset it, though, you need to press "5" and "8" while powering it up, not "5" and "6". The latter initiates Voltage Reference adjustment mode (hence 'VrEF' being displayed). Reset will clear all sound program data, of course!

To check that the delay is completely out of action, on any program set 71 and 72 to mid-point values and increase 76 from 0 to maximum. If you can't hear any difference, the delay isn't doing a thing. If you want to dig around, it's on board no. KLM-775 on the DW8000 [probably the same on the EX8000 but I can't open mine up to check at the moment] -- see page 22 of the DW8000 service manual for the schematic.

It looks to me as though the delay board is permanently in the signal path even when not actually adding a delay, so given that you're getting an output at all, things can't be too serious with it!

Thank you very much for your answers. The problem was exactly on the delay board, the cable was disconnected!!!!!!
I was really surprised when I checked inside and found one cable from the main board to the delay board disconected.
Anyway I still can´t send or receive sysex files from or to the EX8000, so I´ll try to reset the unit as you mentioned.
