Korg DW8000, Mono/Poly, MS-20...

Hey all,

I managed to pick up a DW-8000 recently off of eBay for the astounding
amount of $51.00. Yea, I got a deal... Problem is that, and I knew
this buying it, the owner had previously sold it and the shipper
damaged the keyboard. Destroying the joystick, and slightly crunching
the back right corner. Other that that everything works fine. I
would like to try to replace the joystick though and that is my
question, Where can I get a replacement part or, if I have to,
rebuild and replace the joystick with something fabricated.

Haha. I got one for free, works great, but is missing the joystick. Wish I could find one too

its the sam isnt it group? If

call Korg Support they can patch u in to the parts department I had to call them this
morning for something else. But there are several components to the joystick & I'm sure
u'll need to call to find out what pieces they may still have in stock.
Also Kawai had a very similar joystick on the K1M I believe and RedSound Used another
like it on the DarkStar Synth Boxes they made.
Anybody reading this that has a Korg Entrancer? I need to find a switch on it but they
don't stock that part anymore. Ok also I have a small shop where I buy sell old gear like
this so if u guys got anything ur lookin to sell or trying to find let me know maybe I can
help.

Hello,

Just try to find an other broken one around 50$ to have spare parts ;)

Or you can open the DW to find out the specifications of the joystick.
It is a standard analog joystick : each axis move rotates a variable
resistance (a potentiometer). The idea is to be able to read on the
potentiometer body its resitance range. Most common is 47 K ohms.
Check also if they are single range (3 pins) or dual range (6 pins).

Then you can start to search for old days joystick in garage sales
(look for old Tandy,Radiospare,Atari stuff from the 80's ). Bring a
screwdriver to open them to ckeck the resistance range. You should not
pay more than a dollar or two for such old gear.
