Anyone succeeded to make a patche of Mellotron sound with the DW8000? Richard

I don't think the DW8000 can be programmed to do a good Mellotron sound, (any of the Mellotron sounds). The DW8000 has only single-cycle waveforms, and the Mellotron has 10-second full-length samples. The Mellotron has all kinds of distortion in it, too, in addition to pitch instability. I always use a bit of distortion in my Mellotron emulations, if the synth supports it. My approach on the DW8000 would be to start with a string-like waveform, detune the oscillators a tad, and use the filter at a fixed cutoff to emulate the restricted bandwidth of the Mellotron. Then you'd use the delay line to add animation via a chorus effect. Maybe this would be close enough for your needs, but if like your address suggests, you have a DSS1 as well, the DSS1 is more suited for this because it has all the analog goodness of the DW plus sample memory. Thank's a lot for the info. Yes I have a DSS-1 and a Wavestation EX.
