Found Turbo Manual

Found Turbo Manual

2005-10-11 by David Swaddell

Hi,

I found the Turbo Manual in the Files Section. Downloaded okay.

But I would still appreciate advice on using the Turbo.

I consulted Sonicstate.com to get princing.

What is a fair price for a DW 8000 with a working Turbo?

I need an inexpensive 61 key synth to take to jam seesions. Are there any reliabilty
problems? Or should I keep it protected in the studio for specific vintage sounds and find
another used synth to carry around?

Thanks,

David

Try to offer them $135.
If they won't take it.. remind them that you could get one on ebay
for $150-175 (don't mention that that is a rather low ebay figure. .
and without the turbo..)

Try to keep it under $225, if you can.

It is a great synthesizer for a wide range of applications..
I use mine in two live bands and extensively in the studio. . as far
as digitally controlled analogs go, you couldn't really do much
better.

Hi Robert,

The store wants $200. I've checked out the turbo
features. They seem to work. I just need to verify
that writing to memory works.

I want to use the DW 8000 is a little laboratory to
learn about sound design. It seems so straight
forward.

Thanks or the reply,

Dave

Re: Found Turbo Manual

2005-10-19 by robert andrew scott

Hey there!

For $200, with Turbo, I'd suggest that you go for it.

I previously owned two DW-8000s (one that i left at a rehearsal space
and another that stayed in the studio..), and I even bought a couple
more (on ebay) as presents for two of my friends..
Needless to reiterate- I think they're great.

My main obsession is the fact that (once you get to be familiar with
it) it is a breeze to program. . very intuitive and although there're
only 16 waveforms, you can get results that sound nothing like the
expected combinations of those. The delay section sounds great and
adds a real warmth to the synth. I use the 8000 primarily for ambient
and string-type pads, and i have also recorded/performed quite a few
basslines and melodic lines with it.

Don't be put off be the presets or whatever sounds are in it. . I've
never been completely fond of the sounds that i have found for it
(even with the thousands available online). . but with tweaking and
patience, it will make those huge, spacey, or quirky sounds that
you've been looking for.

(i'm sorry for going on.. )

Re: [DW8000] Re: Found Turbo Manual

2005-10-19 by David Swaddell

Hi Robert,

The keyboard looks a little bit grungy outside, but
the guts seem okay. I've been in and out of the music
store several times testing the functions. I need to
go back one more time to try writing an edited patch
to memory.

Thanks for the advice.

David
