slightly off-topic: Siel DK-80 vs Poly-800/DW-8000 design..

2004-12-22 by P........

Hi there.. first off I'm a member of this board for a lil while but
decided to post something just now. I recently got a Siel DK-80 Synth
from a pawn shop for ten bucks (!) It seems to be in good shape but
lacks the power supply that fits to it's weird power connector.
Anyhoo.. the siel looks very much like a poly-800/dw-8000 and wonder
if siel had kind of a partnership where roland shared their design
with siel? Oh, and could anyone here spare a DK-80 power supply? I
desperately need one to see if this synth works at all, but it seems
like the power supply is much harder to get than the synth itself?

It is remarkably similar to the Korg Poly-800, although not quite
exactly the same. I once started to write down the similarities
and differences between the EX-80 (which is the module version of
the DK-80) and the EX-800 (which is the module version of the Poly-800),
and ran in to more and more subtle differences. And I hadn't even
compared the sound yet.

I'm not sure how easy it'll be to get an original Siel power supply.
However, if it's the same as the one for the EX-80, it's just
an AC/AC adapter which should be pretty common. And luckily the wiring
diagram is on the adapter (which can actually serve two...)
See: http://www.dompselaar.org/Siel/siel_ps.jpg
I guess it was meant to serve both the DK-80 and an additional EX-80.

Awesome! Please let me know if and when you can send it and how much
you want for it. I highly appreciate your help.

Greetings, P.

sorry. no siel power supply. BUT from my siel schematics isee that
a few of them used 2 conductor 12 volt wall-warts. can you tell me
the number of conductors on the power jack and is there any
info next to the jack as to voltage, current, ac or dc, and if dc
the polarity on the jack? if so it's easy to find you one.
