Hey!

Okay, so I thought a nice lil re-troduction could be suitable here.

I don't think that I've been signed up to this list before, so I'm new to
the list, but I'm a returning Wavestation user. Back in 1998 I had
Wavestation EX, but when I moved I sold it because I couldn't fit it in my
new flat *sob sob* .. anyway. Time has changed and now I live in an even
smaller flat, but finally found a Wavestation SR on the used market. Yey! =)

The SR might be a pain to program, but I mostly do the programming from
SoundDiver nowdays (except for the VA synths with lots-a-knobs) so that
won't be a problem I guess.

Enough from me now.

Cheers

Welcome Dave!!!

The DW/Wavestation forum is a lonely place. I own a Triton LE, Karma, and DW8000 and I've been really interested in getting a Wavestation. I love synthy, strings, pads and ambient sounds. I've never heard a Wavestation before but from what I read it's seems to be a perfect compliment to my setup.

What are the sounds like? Are they hard to program?

Thanx!

Grant, I think you'll find the Wavestation a bit "complex" to program since
the display isn't at the same size as on the Triton - but still, it's not
near the toughness in programming as the Prophecy. The SR is harder to
program than the original model, the EX and the A/D because it only has this
tiiiiiny display, just like a JV-1080 or the TR-Rack (which ain't fun at all
to program).

To me, the sounds in the Wavestation are dull, atmospheric and lush. It's
one of the best pad-machines out there and I think that my Wavestation SR
will do a great job.

My Korg-story:
I started with a Wavestation EX back in 1998. Sold it due to lack of space.
Then I got myself a 01/Wfd. Lovely machine which could produce some really
nice atmospheric sounds and pads which fitted nicely in trance and other
types of electronic music. Then I did the enomous mistake by selling the
01/Wfd in favour of a TR-Rack. Gosh, I'm sooo stupid sometimes. The TR-Rack
could do some pads and stuff, but was really just a JV-1080 wanna-be. If you
ask me, the TR-Rack sucks. My JV-1080 does the job so many times better.
Anyway. I only used some drum sounds from it so I though; why not sample
those and get rid of the synth? That's what I did and now I've had my eyes
on a Wavestation since february this year. I just missed a great deal on the
A/D version, but finally got the smack-full SR version instead. Happy,
happy, joy, joy!
Now I'll put some money in my pillow and wait for a 01R/W to appear on the
used market. I want one, almost badly actually =)

Lonely eh? I saw that there hasn't been that many posts lately, but lets
come up with some topics shall we?

Cheers

Hi mates!
I'm a Wavestation EX user since 1992
I love it. It's a so powerful machine... My WS favourite sounds are
the atmospheric ones.
It's strenght (to me) is in the layering of so many complex patches
based on so simple waveforms!
I recently tried in a shop the mighty Atmosphere virtual synth.
Well, I was disillusioned. The textures were very complex and
beautiful but weren't playable!
They are long samples of complex programmings from great synths, but
at least they feel "dead".
It can't compare to any WS!

M.
