MS-20 Patching Filter & Envelope Trigger

MS-20 Patching Filter & Envelope Trigger

2013-01-24 by crdnk1300

Hello,

I'm fairly new to the patching of the MS-20,
I wonder If anybody could tell me how I can use the Note trigger to retrigger the filter envelope each time a new note is pressed.

The loop that I am running is essentially an octave jumping loop (very simple), thus the note level is consistent the whole way through.

I would would like to be able to alter the attack time of the filter without having any effect of the Amp Envelope.

Thanks

CK

Best I can suggest is to google for MS20 resources. A DW8000 is a very different beast indeed.

Hi CK,

I guess what you'd like to achieve is what on old Roland synths is the "Gated VCA". You don't want the VCA to be controlled by the envelop, but only by the "note on and off gate".
Normally you'd think patching the keyboard trigger out to the VCA in would do the trick, but this is not the case.

What you want to do is patch the ENV1 out to VCA gain while having ENV1 settings for delay, attack and release at 0.

No, when played staccato, the filter envelop will be triggered at every new note. When played legato, the envelop isnt retriggered and neither will be te filter envelop.

When you want this, you have to patch ENV1 to filter in or TOTAL, have ENV2 set at 0 (for gate effect on amp) and patch keyboard out to ENV1 trigger in.

I dont have my MS20 in front of me so I might be very wrong, but i think this was how i did it before.

Good Luck
Cheers

Walter

There is a mailing list called Korg Kornucopia, specifically for users of first-gen Korg Analog synths, MS and PS series, etc.

you can sign up here:  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/korgkornucopia/

That list will be the best place to ask MS-20 questions, rather than the DW8000 list (this one)

Thanks,
DK
