You can then connect the MIDI output of the DW-8000 to the MIDI input on the MIDI interface, and likewise the MIDI output of the MIDI interface to the MIDI input on the DW-8000. You can then use any sequencer/DAW to record MIDI from and/or send MIDI to the DW-8000.
There are plenty of cheap MIDI interfaces with 1 or 2 inputs & outputs. I have a MOTU Fastlane (link) and it works fine for me on my G4 dual 1.25 running 10.4.10 with Digital Performer 5.12.
