I am new to this forum but not to music generally.
I am thinking of getting an EX 8000 for a project needing good deep thick pads. I have seen videos of the DW 8000 used to recreate some classic analogue sounds:

Can I use an external keyboard with aftertouch as a controller with the EX 8000 to achieve the same or similar results? In my case it is a Korg 707.
I prefer the EX version if it will work due to space limitations.
Also, are these old synths still reasonably dependable? I need something that will last at least a year or so with regular use for a specific recording project.
