NEW DTXpress member(150) user since 7/2000....PLEASE HELP!

Hello DTXpress GURUs.

I need some assistance. I'm trying to create an instrument definiton
file for the Yamaha DTXpress for Cakewalk (I have Pro Audio 9).
Cakewalk and their BBS site don't have a clue. Accessing the DTXpress
drum kits by number is no problem! However, trying to create a
definition that will let my computer (Cakewalk) have access to the
specifics of which Drum is on what MIDI NOTE within each kit.... plus
.....the specifics of which voice the drum is using.....is proving to
be one headache.

Has anyone accomplished this feat yet. I understand if you don't want
to share the info. All I need to know....is it possible? If its
possible.....I'll just keep hammerin' away at it.

It would be a source of great motivation on my end knowing that it is
possible. Running out out of steam :)

Yes it is possible...I use logic now, but I had CW pro audio 9 and I entered all the names by hand....Sorry I cant remember specifically, but most of the information was in the manual....I know that you start by using "define instruments"..then I created a new group under "patch names"..
Just make sure your midi port accessing your new patch name bank....
Sorry I couldn't be more help....at least you know it can be done and it wasnt that hard...

Thanks LEE....I'll find a way to get into the specifics of the drum
voices. I can be relentless when working on a project. I've been
using my "textbridge" program with my scanner from the manual and
Microsoft Excel for the lists. It lightened the load a little.

Tell me about Logic if you get the chance. Thanks again :)

The best thing right about Logic for me right now is the EXS 24
Sampler....very high quality samples, and the stereo drum kit is
awesome....24 bit stereo samples, very realistic......I use the DTX to
trigger samples, and once you record the performance, you hit "demix" and it
separates all the parts of your kit for more indepth mixing....

There is really nothing you cant do with this software....very powerful and
complex....
