E-drummers' Wishlist

2004-02-20 by emf

Hi everybody,

This group and others like it have functioned for years like
wishlists with little hope of having any impact on those who actually
provide the goods. But now it's time for us to put our money where
our mouths are. OGD has been communicating regularly with Yamaha with
questions, but expects to generate and send some well-condidered
suggestions to Jim Haler from us once we get more info about the
latest products under our belt.

I'm thrilled to say that Pintech has directly offered us a similar
challenge, and I can assure your that it's not an empty one. The
latest Zenbals, which came to the market, are the direct result of
input from outside the company.

Anyone who has a proposal for a product of any kind--either one that
expresses a general need that has yet to be addressed or one based on
a wholly original (but not whacky) idea--post it to the board under
this heading. Incidentally, this includes any features that you'd
like to see on a module; you may be pleasantly surprised about future
developments. Periodically, I'll collect them, with the names of the
submitters, and discuss them with Brian. What kinds of cymbals and
drums would you like someone to manufacture to go along with your
Yamaha kits and modules? What would your dream module do that your
current one, or any current affordable ones, doesn't? Speak up.

Thanks for offering to gather up requests, Ed!

I've posted a wish on the Pintech board for a newly shaped Zenbal
with a more pronounced bell for ride use - the ZBR2? :)

I also wish the next generation of modules would all include the
ability to "play into the drum head" like the upcoming (but crazy
expensive) TD-20. Being able to nuance the bass drum like this would
really sound great, and I can imagine using that capability more
generally on the snare and toms.
