Played Acoustics last night

Played Acoustics last night

2003-08-02 by brown8700

Last night, my band opened for the 2003 Hillbilly Beach Party in
Westport, Ky. It's a two day event on the river featuring about 15
bands throughout the weekend.

Anyway, I opted to use the stage set rather than bring my own kit.
Let me describe this 'monster'.

7-piece Yamaha Recording custom. OK, that was fine.
18, count 'em, 18 cymbals. Geez. Who needs eigtheen cymbals?
Pedals everwhere. Double bass pedal. Hihat pedal. Cable hat pedal.
Pedal with a tambourine mounted to it. Pedal with a cowbell mounted
to it.

Even with all this, I thought the overkill was the sound system. The
drummer alone had a 16-channel Peavey mixer and a rack of effects
that would make Bozzio jealous. There were ten mic's set up around
the kit.

The kit even had its own sound system; two 15" Peavy two-ways and two
18" subs.

All up, it took the guy four hours to set up the kit.

There was a lot of great gear, but I'll stay digital.

p.s. Even though I got compliments on my playing, I felt I sucked.
Those tubs are big!!!!

Stephen,

I hope you taped your solo.
