Problem with simultaneous hit of hihat and snare

Problem with simultaneous hit of hihat and snare

2003-06-06 by mark_anderson_us

Hi all

I bought a DTXPREEII last week and while practicing (and improving
my coordination) I noticed a problem/bug in the trigger module:

When I hit the HiHat and the snare at exactly the same time, there
is no output from the snare. When I try it with all the Toms, it
seems fine. I swapped a Tom with the snare and got the same problem,
so it's not a problem with the pad.

I haven't changed any settings on the box itself, but reset to
factory settings anyway. I also tried it with seperate drum kits.

Has anyone seen this problem? Can anyone reprodcue it?

Thanks in advance

Mark

I think we need an FAQ list here. To quote myself quoting others:

"You need to adjust the 'specific rejection' settings. See messages
2366 and 2961 here from the estimable Walt and Ed (respectively)."

If anyone would care to compile it I'll place it on the DTXpressions.com
web site.. :)

Well, the first three off the top of my head would be:

* snare/hat specific rejection
* "factory reset to cure MIDI woes"
* stereo vs dual trigger

The first two could find a useful home in your "tips and tricks"
section.

But it's Friday, it's 5.30pm, and I seem to have lost the will to
live so those are all the words you're getting for now until I've
been fed and watered... B-)

I get the friday thing... It's only 11:35am here, so I have 1/2 a day
left to go :(

As for the FAQ, how about we combine the wisdom of the messages in
question and I add them as a new FAQ button to the main page? Anyone else
care to offer insight to things that might be added? I think we have so
far:

 * snare/hat specific rejection
 * "factory reset to cure MIDI woes"
 * stereo vs dual trigger

I suggest we add:

* What type of AMP should I use?
* What is "cross talk" and how does it affect my kit?
* How do I isolate/reduce the acoustic sound of my kit (reduce neighbor
complaints)?

Any others?

Vern

Re: FAQ creation?

How about adding:
* Who can I talk to at Yamaha and what is his/her number?
* What external midi devices are used for expanding the dtxpress and
how do I set them up?
* What other companies offer compatible gear to use with the Yamaha
module?
* What are the differences between the three different modules
Yamaha offers?
* A list of online stores that offer the best online service and
prices.

An FAQ seems like a good idea and so far everyone has offered
valuable questions to answer in it!

Hi Kevin,

I'm a DTX1 owner who upgraded to the KP-65 - works great! It has a
nice wide kick mount for centering/alignment.
I'm using the Peace double pedal (found new on Ebay for $105) so I
only use up one input, leaving 9/10 for extra tom/cymbal.
