Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

Hi,

Some time ago I read that someone had made Cymbal-pad clamps. Is it 
possible to get the drawings so I can make my own clamps? Would 
appreciate it.

Hi Leon,

A friend of mine had taken one of the original
versions from Yamaha, and basically duplicated it
using parts available at local stores.  I can take
very close up pictures of it if you like, but I don't
have any measured technical drawings of one.  

I do still have a few left if anyone wants some - they
ended up costing me $7 each to have him make them, and
I will sell them for that price (plus shipping).

Hi,

This may be dumb but... What is a cymbal clamp? Isn't it included in 
the Yamaha package? My DTXpress order is on its way, should I expect 
to get one per cymbal with the kit or is it something extra?

Hi Okan,

First, yes they should come with the kit, but over
time sometimes they become separated from the cymbal. 
If you pick up a used cymbal, sometimes you get them,
sometimes you don't.

What they do is clamp to the cymbal stand, with their
rod part going through the small hole behind the
cymbal stand hole in the cymbal, to keep the cymbal
from pivoting around - which can make it a hard target
to hit.  Since it is hard to deal with Yamaha, and
since it seemed like a straight forward part to
improvise with, that's what I did.

Gee! I wouldn't know if my kit is missing them. Thanks for the 
information. Strange that DTXpress brochures does not mention 
anything about cymbal clamps.

Hi Walt,

Haven't been on this group for some time, so that's why the response 
is so late. I've made a model of the Pad Clamp (in Autodesk's 
Inventor) so I could post the drawings (in mm!) somewhere here if 
there is a need amongst groupmembers.

Did you have any trouble obtaining the raw parts in

Walt,

I have no idea how to get the files in the "Files" section. The files 
are in the Inventor part and drawing format. The parts are to be 
manufactured, except the fasteners. And yes, the fasteners are 
standard screws! 
BTW, the Netherlands is in Europe, across the Northsea from England, 
next to Germany!
