snare upgrade

hey edrummers, check youtube...... impossible drum solo hq.....my question is has anyone stepped up the snare on the xpress lV to a tp100? and is it worth it ? thats the 10 inch with adjustable snare wire

I did four months ago and believe me it's totally worth it. The feeling of the pad is different and having the red knob to adjust the snares is a plus. I have placed my tp100 on a snare stand.

Me too. I then changed up again to the tp120 which is the 12" snare. On a stand. Brilliant. Well worth it.

Havn't posted for a while, anyone in UK, or Europe, who wants to sell a tp65s drop me a pm.

Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for all the comments, the tp100 and tp120 sound a great upgrade.
Anyone have any specific experience of plugging them into a DTXPress I?
I'm aware they will work without supporting all the different sounds, but still worth it?
In a similar vein, does anyone recommend / have comments on the RHH130 or the RHH135 hi-hats and which one to go for?
Many thanks in advance
Andrew

I use the TP100 on my DTXpress III on a snare stand and much prefer it to using the smaller pads attached to the rack. No crosstalk, bigger pad, better positioning.

Yo. I have a rhh135. It is great fun, especially if you have the yamaha stand to go with it. Tried it on a cheap generic stand and it was awful.
It is a great upgrade if, like me, you like it to play like the real thing. Before, I used a roland cy5 cymbal with the yamy pedal as my hi hat and that worked perfectly well and is a good cheap option.
I don't know how compatible the rhh135 is with a dtxpress I so maybe Keith can answer that for you.
The rhh135 is a dual zone cymbal, I don't know if the 130 is.
I think the main difference is the 135 behaves like a true hi hat with the 130 the movement is internal so the pad itself does not move up and down. I love it for that reason. It does tend to spin a little on the stand which is a trifle annoying and would probably piss me off if I was gigging it.
Hope that helps and keep asking questions.

Cheers

All I can say about the RHH135 compatibility is to let you know what it says in the RHH135 manual - I have no direct experience of the RHH. It is a good match for the DTXpress III/IV, according to the manual. For the DTXpress I/II it gives the recommended settings for HH Offset, velocity & gain.

Keith.

Many thanks all.

In case others haven't seen it, this link is invaluable for considering next upgrades.

The RHH135 sounds pretty good - that combined with a larger snare on it's own stand sounds a good way to go.

Cheers
