I'm keeping an eye on ebay for a dual trigger pad to replace my single trigger original snare pad. A Roland PD7 has come up, but I'm unsure whether I can use these on the DTX.....does anyone know? Tim (approaching 41 and just discovering why I was born)

My understanding is the trigger within the pads all have one thing in common. That is to pick up vibrations through the use of transducers. So in essence you can use any triggered pad and it will work on any electronic drum set. Dual triggers work also. The main difference is in the moduals which of course produce different drum sounds. I would suggest getting your pad if it's a good deal.

In effect, however, Roland modules have a better time adapting to Yamaha pads than Yamaha modules do to Rolands's, or any other manufacturer's. The rubber Rolands will work on Yamaha, but not necessarily with the same finesse as a comparable Yamaha pad would. To tell you the truth, I'd see if Ed Morin has a used Yamaha pad at Drumbalaya before I bought a PD-7. The technology is basically the same, but all sorts of small variables can change the response enough to make a palpable difference. By the way, did any of you happen to notice the DTXpressIII SP selling currently on ebay with a "Buy It Now" price of $3500? The "awesome extras" that apparently justify a price that exceeds that of a new DTXtreme IIS by $1,000 are a Fender amp, a set of headphones, a double- kick pedal, and two pairs of sticks. Leaving aside that the Fender amp is most likely a guitar amp, which would be inadequate with an e-drum kit, the idea that the cost of these extras could possibly raise the price of even a little-used DTXPIIISP to $2,000 above its fixed selling price new has me scratching my head--hard enough to scrape my brain. Did I miss something? Ed

I had quite a large set controlled by a DTX and DTXpress. So I split them into 2 sets and took one to my bro's house. But we were 2 pads short. So Ive been looking for a good deal and I really wanted the dual zone pads. This guy had TP80S pads for auction, but in an unusual category. I think thats why no one really bid on them. Inly 5 bidders.I won the auction for 6 TP80S's for around $150. I figured even if they were kinda beat up, I could use it for the set at my brothers. Well, I got them yesterday, and they were brand new in the box, sealed! I took them out cause I couldnt believe it and they were brand spanking new. My guess is that they must have been hot or maybe they guy worked at a drum place. Anyways, I just wanted to share that with everyone. It took quite some time to find the right deal, but it'll usually come out ok. Or maybe sometimes we just get lucky.

Since the TP80S model hasn't been sold new for years, anywhere, you seemed to have run into someone who somehow inherited an unused set, didn't know much about them, and unloaded them on ebay. His loss, your gain. Ed
