"Aux In Jack...Is there a way to NOT have routed to L/R outputs?" ...And have say a CD player's audio only sent to the headphone jack? The same thing with the DTXpress's internal songs...Is there a way to play along with these songs and NOT go out to the L/R outs? Reason...Let's say I want to play along to 'something' and record only my drumming...for some secret & evil purpose of course!:o Steve

Steve, If you are using an amp and it has more than one channel you can just use another channel for the CD player

Thanks Nick, Hmmm...Yeah, I had been trying to figure how to do this or IF it could be done WITHIN the DTXpress module itself for a while. That is to hear the Aux In audio or internal DTXpress songs 'only' in the headphones while the L/R outputs only contain drums. Not in the manual it seems. At 'this' point I'm using multiple modules with extra trigger pads, so I'm running each of the modules stereo L/R outputs into my mixer. I can then run a CD player into the mixer as well. But I 'think' the issue of the mixers output will STILL have the CD players audio at the mixers output to my recording source. I guess I can simply split up the outputs of my modules and have directly routed from modules to mixer and the modules again to recording source. I know there are various 'external' solutions, but I've been wanting to know for a long time if this can be done 'internally' within the DTXpress module itself...Eh!:) Thanks, Steve --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "Nick Mela" <nick@n...> wrote: > Steve, > > If you are using an amp and it has more than one channel you can just > use another channel for the CD player > > -----Original Message----- > From: zapaxe [mailto:a_zapelectric@h...] > Sent: Saturday, December 11, 2004 1:30 PM > To: DTXpress@yahoogroups.com > Subject: [DTXpress] Aux In Jack...Is there a way to NOT have routed to > L/R outputs? > > > > "Aux In Jack...Is there a way to NOT have routed to L/R outputs?" > > ...And have say a CD player's audio only sent to the headphone jack? > > The same thing with the DTXpress's internal songs...Is there a way > to play along with these songs and NOT go out to the L/R outs? > > Reason...Let's say I want to play along to 'something' and record > only my drumming...for some secret & evil purpose of course!:o > > Steve > > > > > > Community email addresses: > Post message: DTXpress@yahoogroups.com > Subscribe: DTXpress-subscribe@yahoogroups.com > Unsubscribe: DTXpress-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com > List owner: DTXpress-owner@yahoogroups.com > > Shortcut URL to this page: > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DTXpress > > Alternate DTXpress site: > http://www.dtxpressions.com > > > > Yahoo! Hi Ed, I forgot about that blasted "click" issue! :/ Eh, really I never use it anyway, I use my Cubase click when recording. It seems as though using a mixer and/or splitter cables with creative routing is the way to go along with external sources for click tracks & CD/tape players & 'play along' generic tunes. I suppose if these internal midi songs give me wood THAT bad, I can record them to another source 1st! [rolls eyes]. Does any of the DTXtreme modules, past or present offer this bypassing? I'd think that in the 'next' generation of modules, Yamaha could impliment these easily. I thought the DTXpress 3 allowed you to send the click to one output only.. As regards to the feeding sound into aux input an not having it come out the main outs; An old portastudio can be used as a basic mixer (I believe this has been mentioned in past posts), better still a dedicated mixer will give you much better control over the sound you want to play along to, as well as giving you control over the modules sound (in terms of level, Eq, etc.) I know it might mean having to 'spend money', but it will make life much easier for you.

Hello S-E-A, As said, I just had been wondering 'if' this was possible. I'll have to check my DTX 3 out on that click when I get a chance...? I'm doing exactly what you said with the "Old Portastudio". I'm using my old Tascam 246 unit & it's 6 CH mic/line mixer at the front and various connections on the rear. It's really a decent mixer & it does the trick for now. You could record the MIDI out then regenerate it through the brain to get a recording of your performance w/o the internal songs. Charlie zapaxe wrote: <...snip...>

Ah, another great option I didn't think of...This may come in useful in other situations!
