Can I just clear something up, because your note suggests you may 
have a slight misunderstanding (apologies in advance if I read 
something into your note that isn't there).

You can pretty much plug any pad into any input from 1 through 10 on 
the DTXpress. They all work the same way. The only reason (and it's 
not a bad one) for choosing the inputs as marked/shipped is so that 
the pre-set kits make sense and so that you have cymbals on the 
inputs that can be choked. Those are the only "compatibility" issues 
that exist. Electrically, they are all nearly identical - 1 through 
8 stereo (including the kick) and 9/10 twin mono. You don't actually 
have to choose an input that Yamaha says is for that kind of pad, 
nor one that they ship with a specific sound on it.
