Question about an older Yamaha MIDI drum brain....

2004-03-03 by Tom Kemp, Bass

Does anybody here have experience with Yamaha's PMC1 trigger converter with it's XLR inputs for each pad? I am wondering whether or not standard triggers could be used/adapted with this particular unit.
I have a small home studio, and am thinking about adding a handful of pads for additional rythmic instruments and effects, plus adding triggers to our drummer's hardware as more or less an experiment in recording. I have a single trigger in my possession now, but it's modern...uses the 1/4" jack to plug in....and have an opportunity to get my hands on this old Yamaha PMC1 converter cheap... If I can make it work with an adapter to the XLR cable, then it would be more than what I need for this situation.
Thanks in advance, guys!
