Honestly, this should be a simple matter of looking at the frequency response listed for the unit. If it is a fairly flat response between, lets say 100hz and 15khz, it should do an adequate job. I just don't know of any bass maps with "tweeters" in them... there might be some Jazz bass enclosures that have, but I haven't seen them. Most "standard" bass amps (i.e. 50-100 watt "Rock and Roll" amps) do not need to cover those very high frequencies to reproduce the fingering and fret noise, or the attack of picking a string. They'll be plenty "bright" enough with a top end of 6-8khz usually.... So, since the majority of a cymbal's energy is upwards of ~10khz, I can't imagine a bass amp would be able to accurately reproduce a decent sounding full drum kit. It might be able to produce a good sounding kick, but any of the "metal" percussions (cymbals, chinaboy, cowbell etc.) would sound muffled. This goes the same for a guitar amp (though they sometimes will have a better high end response). So, compare the frequency response of a keyboard amp with the stated frequency response of a bass amp and you should see a VERY sizable difference. Remember, this is not *just* the amplifier portion, but the amp and the speaker cabinet it is hooked to. If the freq response listed just covers the AMP, it might list a wide frequency responce (i.e. 20hz-30khz), but if the speaker/cabinet rolls of dramaticly after 8khz bercasue it doesn't have a mid range or tweeter speaker... anyway... my $0.02 :) -- Vern Graner CNE/CNA/SSE | "If the network is down, then you're Senior Systems Engineer | obviously incompetent so why are we Texas Information Services | paying you?
