Commonly used for accents, often accompanied by the kick drum for additional punch. And only more expensive rigs like the Roland V's are actually capable of this effect. It requires a different technology in the edge of the pad, plus the "brain-power" to recognize the action of grabbing an edge. A similiar effect can be set up by customizing a crash or splash in the DTX to have a real fast decay. Experiment!Mark
