Sorry, I came in on this late I don't know what model of DTX you got, 
but here is some generic advice...

Unplug the MIDI 'in' on the DTX...
If you dont then get the doubling of notes, then you need to turn off 
the MIDI thru of Sonar (I don't use Sonar, so not too sure of how to) 
and then plug the 'in' back in one thru is disabled... go back to having 
fun! If you don't know where the MIDI thru off is, just unplug the DTX's 
in when you record, plug back in when you playback.

Or it could be an audio loop-back of the audio signal, in that case.. I 
have no idea of how your monitor/mixer is set-up, so I just have to tell 
you on how I do it.. I set up a different group mix on the mixer for 
what goes in from the floor, and what goes out to record, folded back 
from the recorders. Depending on the foldback latency of the PC, you may 
choose which one you want to monitor. You may also be able to mute the 
recorded track from the PC to keep it from folding back into your mixer. 
It depends on your software capabilities and mixer arragement.
